Ep. 85: WHO’S YOUR CAST OF CHARACTERS?

Awesome With Alison EP: 85

This episode might be a quickie but I know it will serve you! I was talking to a friend recently about a project she has been wanting to do for a long time but hasn’t been able to execute on, and as I listened to her it hit me that these same few people kept coming up every time we talked about this project. People that had NOTHING to do with the actual project, but she was giving them all the power to squash her progress.  And then I realized- I DO THIS TOO! Who is your supporting cast when it comes to your goals? And are they supporting or sabotaging?

I want you to pinpoint a goal, something you have wanted for a long time but haven’t been able to make happen. Who are the people you are letting impact you? Who are you letting in your bed! Who are you letting in your head! IT MATTERS!

Say your goal is to get healthier. Who’s the person who makes you feel shameful about your body? Who makes you feel unworthy of prioritizing new habits? It’s not always even the full person, but could be the look on the face of someone at the gym that made you uncomfortable and that look is now controlling your gym attendance. These people literally have nothing to do with your goal, but they are creating A LOT of resistance.

It’s time for a recast!

Once you identity your current cast of characters, examine that current cast, and now it is time to create a whole new cast of characters. A cast that SERVES YOU.

There is plentiful and real evidence that we start to take on the habits of those around us, so we need to be intentional with who’s in our head and who’s in our bed. They don’t have to be people you know personally, and you can still love your sister and take her off the cast of a project she’s not serving you on.

On today’s episode I share more real life examples of this from my experience and we share some more tools on how to successfully choose your new cast. I hope you will go listen start holding mental auditions to replace the characters dragging you down!
